As chairman of the Computing in Construction Committee of the American Society of Civil Engineers from 1989-1995 I helped organize and provided the leadership and drive for several congresses, conferences, tracks, and sessions, and recruited individuals and papers to create a forum for cutting-edge research in computer applications in civil engineering construction. These are too numerous to list in detail and include the International Conferences on Computing in Civil Engineering, the Congresses on Computing in Civil Engineering, and partly the Construction Congresses. This effort established computer applications as a dominant theme in ASCE construction-related conferences.
